Cypress assistance

About The Project:

Cypress Assistance Ministries is a nonprofit serving the Cypress, Texas community through a wide range of programs, resources, and events. With so much happening within the organization, their website needed to do more than simply share information. They needed a thoughtful way to organize everything so visitors could quickly find the resources most relevant to them while giving the organization room to continue growing.

A significant part of this project happened before we ever began building pages. We worked closely with the Cypress Assistance Ministries team using shared spreadsheets to organize, sort, and categorize their programs and information. This collaborative process helped us understand not only what content needed to be included, but also how different visitors would be looking for it.

From there, we developed a website structure that made their many programs and events easier to navigate and understand. Instead of treating every piece of information individually, we created a flexible system of categories and content that could accommodate what the organization offered at launch while making it easy to incorporate new programs, resources, and events in the future.

For a nonprofit with continually changing information, we also knew it was important that the website not be completely dependent on a web developer for routine updates. We built the site so the Cypress Assistance Ministries team could manage much of their own content, giving staff the ability to add and update information as programs evolve and new events are announced.

At the same time, the structure behind the website helps maintain consistency as new content is added. This balance between flexibility and organization was a major focus of the project. The goal was to give their team control over the website without creating a system that would become difficult to navigate as the amount of content continued to grow.

The result is a website that serves several different audiences at once. Community members can more easily explore available assistance and programs, supporters can learn about the organization’s work, and visitors can find upcoming opportunities and events without having to search through an overwhelming amount of information.

This project was particularly rewarding because the website has a very practical role in connecting people with resources that can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Thoughtful website design for a nonprofit isn’t only about creating something visually appealing—it’s about making important information accessible to the people who need it.

Our work with Cypress Assistance Ministries is a great example of the strategy that often happens behind the scenes of a successful website. By taking the time to organize their information first, develop a structure around how people actually use it, and build a system their team could maintain themselves, we created a website designed not only for where the organization was at launch, but for where it can go next.
