About The Project:
My relationship with the Southwest Montgomery County Chamber goes back years, making this recent website launch especially meaningful. I designed the Chamber’s previous website approximately five years ago, and as the organization has grown and evolved, I’ve had the opportunity to help its online presence evolve along with it.
Most recently, the Chamber entered an exciting new chapter with a new name, an updated brand, and an expanding vision for the communities and businesses it serves. With those changes, it became clear that the existing website—while it had served the organization well for years—no longer fully represented where the Chamber was headed.
We set out to create a new website that matched the updated identity while also improving how the Chamber communicates with members, prospective members, community partners, and residents.
A chamber website has to accomplish a lot. It needs to promote the organization itself while simultaneously serving the businesses that make up its membership. Visitors may be looking for networking opportunities, upcoming events, membership information, community resources, local businesses, sponsorship opportunities, or simply a better understanding of how the Chamber supports the local business community.
Organizing all of that information in a way that feels intuitive was an important part of the project.
The new website was designed around the Chamber’s growth, with a structure that gives its programs, events, initiatives, and membership resources room to expand. We wanted to make important information easier to find while creating a more modern experience that reflects the energy and professionalism of the organization today.
The new brand also gave us an opportunity to rethink the visual experience of the website. Rather than simply updating a few colors and replacing the logo on the previous site, we created a new digital presence that feels aligned with the Chamber’s current identity and the broader direction of the organization.
Having worked with the Chamber for so many years gave me a unique perspective throughout the project. I wasn’t learning the organization for the first time. I had already seen how its needs had changed, how its programs had developed, and how much the organization itself had grown since we built that first website.
That history helped us think beyond what the Chamber needed at launch and consider what it may need several years from now. The new website was built with that continued growth in mind, giving the organization a flexible foundation that can adapt as new programs, events, resources, and opportunities are introduced.
Launching this new site approximately five years after designing the original one has been a rewarding full-circle moment. Websites aren’t meant to remain unchanged forever. Businesses and organizations evolve, audiences change, technology changes, and eventually the digital presence needs to catch up.
For the Southwest Montgomery County Chamber, this project represents much more than a website redesign. It marks a new chapter for an organization that has grown significantly since we first worked together.
I’m proud to have played a role in both versions of its online presence—and even more proud to continue supporting an organization that plays such an important role in connecting and strengthening our local business community.
